Adopt-A-Family / Child Welfare Project

The Adopt-A-Family project is the Junior Auxiliary of Bateville's National Child Welfare Service Project in which our focus is to provide for the basic necessities of one (or more, if possible) needy family in the community.  The 2011-2012 Chairman of this project is Eve Sprouse.  She may be contacted via email at jaofbatesvillems@gmail.com.

Child Welfare Definition:

Each Junior Auxiliary Chapter is required to have at least one Child Welfare Project for which it has full administrative responsibility.  The objective of Child Welfare is to break the cycle of dependency, whether it be physical or emotional.

There are two basic requirements for a Child Welfare project.
  1. The Project must provide one or more of the basic necessities of life: food, clothing, shelter, and/or emotional support.
  2. There must be an on-going relationship and commitment established between the Chapter member, or members, and recipient.
Full administrative responsibility means that the Chapter initiates the project, executes the project and reserves the right to continue or terminate the project.  The Chapter may work with other agencies or enlist services from other individuals.  Money can be spent, but the project must be more than just buying necessities.

At ALL times, the greatest care is taken to ensure the privacy and dignity of the family, or families, with whom the Chapter is assisting.  Never, even within the Chapter, is the family or family members referred to by name outside of the committee, or the project's assistance, of which the family is in the care of.  This policy is never taken lightly within the Chapter at any time, and can not be emphasized enough.
